Jazz Up Glen Ellyn is both LIVE and streamed this year! Both events will take place at the same time – July 10, 4 – 8:30 pm. Tammy, Fareed and friends should start around 7:20 pm.
If you’d like to attend the event in person, head to jazzupglenellyn.org to purchase your ticket. The ticket will assign you to a space in the shape of a 10 x 10 ft square, with a maximum capacity of 4 people in attendance. You are responsible for bringing your own chairs and table. You may also bring in your own food and alcohol, however, please note we will have available the ability to order food and drink and have it delivered to your square. Our goal of this event is to drive revenue spent at our businesses, so please help to support our town!
There are different priced squares available for purchase. On Main Street, there will be a stage and a LED Wall. This will provide your with both LIVE viewing of the artists, as well as, some recorded musicians as well. On Pennsylvania, there will only be a LED Wall. You will hear the music LIVE but watch the musicians on the screen.
This year’s theme is the Chicago / New Orleans Connection!. America’s own indigenous artform, JAZZ, was born in New Orleans, and travelled along the Mississippi, setting up shop in Kansas City and eventually Chicago. From the crossroads of Chicago, musicians from NOLA and the rest of the country met and jammed and developed the Chicago sound – Modern, yet rootsy, tough and bluesy. Jazz has evolved and travelled all over the world, first To NYC and LA, then Europe Asia and now the world over, but it got its start when New Orleans met Chicago!
